Russia launches new UAV radar!

Ana sayfa /

Russia has commissioned a new radar system aimed at improving its air defense against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The new radar station, named Lori, stands out with its ability to detect ground and air targets within a range of 10 km. It can also track objects moving up to 200 kilometers per hour.

The Lori radar station will come to the fore in the ongoing UAV-UAV struggle between Russia and Ukraine. According to Russian officials, the radar will work to counter Ukrainian drones. Preliminary prototypes are scheduled to be built this year and the first batch of production is scheduled for September.

Military experts underlined that it is important to combine the Lori radar with the air defense systems of the army, emergency services and private security. It could help protect Russia against UAV-UAV threats, they said.

Jon Snow says he can’t watch House of the Dragon!

Kit Harington, known for his character Jon Snow, stated that he could not watch House of the Dragon with his latest statement.

In Russia, the distance between military and civilian infrastructure is getting shorter and shorter. Radars like Lori are therefore expected to protect oil pipelines, power plants and other industrial facilities from Ukrainian drones. It is also considered suitable for protecting long-range military bases.

While the Lori radar is capable of countering drones, experts emphasize that Russia still needs a dense radar field in its airspace. The system’s developers also aim to make the Lori radar ten percent cheaper than its domestic and foreign competitors.
